Volume 3, Issue 4 - April 2008

Hello, readers...

You probably know that Earth Day is coming up next week, and it's the 38th anniversary of the first Earth Day, in 1970. It seems like everyone is Going Green these days, and it's no wonder. Even big-box stores are stocking their shelves with "green" products, and a lot of consumers opt for them, given the choice.

I think sustainability and health is something we can all get behind, and you can do it without much effort. You don't have to run out and buy a Prius to make a difference.

At InSys, we always go for the recycled paper from Staples, for example. One person in our office has volunteered to take our paper trash home to be recycled, since our building doesn't have a separate disposal option. Instead of a Fax, ask if you can send an email. Make sure your home and office PCs are set up with power-saving enabled, and turn off the lights whenever a room is empty.

If you're interested, you can find lots of tips on line, and thedailygreen.com is a good place to start. Have you got a tip of your own to share? If so, drop me a note, and we'll pass it on in a future newsletter.

Until next time,

Linda Magnusson-Rosario, CEO

Unauthorized Applications on Enterprise Networks

A recent study conducted by Palo Alto Networks suggests that employees are circumventing organizational security policies and utilizing unauthorized applications. Proxies and tunneling help users hide potentially dangerous practices such as peer-to-peer file exchange. Read the article.

Secure the Endpoints

Protecting data and customer information from outsiders is a challenge for any business owner. A good defense involves securing access areas, and a critical place to start is with endpoint devices that connect to your network - laptops, desktops, servers and handhelds. Read the article.

Improving the Odds?

Many big companies use Web-based technologies like wikis and blogs to hone in on new ideas and innovations. Now, a new Web tool called prediction markets is being used to improve forecasting, reduce risk and speed innovation. Read the article.

Healthy Eating

Spring's a good time to think about eating better. Try cutting out some of that fat and use more heart-healthy oils and fresh ingredients. The Spring edition of Linda's Top-Secret White Binder Cookbook has two new ways to enjoy fish. If the weather's nice, try the Grilled Fish Filet wrapped in Prosciutto di Parma. If it's a rainy day, try the Orange Sesame Crusted Salmon Filets. Enjoy and eat healthy!
