Volume 5, Issue 5 - May 2010
I came across a news story over the weekend that had nothing to do with technology, but that I thought was worth sharing with InSys Views readers.
A 16-year-old Australian girl named Jessica Watson has just finished sailing around the world, solo. It took her seven months, and she may (or may not) be the youngest person who's ever done so. There's no question that she made
the voyage, but there's some controversy about whether her route covered enough sea miles to qualify as a "true" circumnavigation. You can read the details, and watch a pretty good video at CNN.
And of course, since it's now 2010, Jessica also has a Web site, through which you can connect to her blog, Facebook page, Twitter feed, Flickr photos and YouTube channel. That makes it seem a little commercial, but I don't think it takes away from the accomplishment. It
shows what a person with a dream can do. Too young to drive, but able to sail around the world on her own. We should all have such dreams!
